AN INTRODUCTION TO
BASIC CONSTRUCTION SKILLS FOR WOMEN
This is a 4-day course run over a 20-week period. You must be unemployed to attend.
Skills & Personal Qualities:
Applicants should:
- have good practical skills
- be careful and methodical
- have colour sense and an appreciation of designing or matching patterns
- be able to carry out the various tasks in the correct order
- be presentable and have a pleasant manner
The Course consists of taster modules in
Painting & Decorating, Carpentry, Plastering, Electrics, Bricklaying and Health & Safety
External Visits:
The opportunity will arise for external visits for you to experience a construction organisation's workplace.
The training can lead to the following qualification:
- Introductory Certificate in Basic Construction Skills
Future Prospects:
- An apprenticeship with a construction based company
- Further in-depth construction courses
- After qualifying, running your own business
